Today we released the first beta of SecureCRT 7.3, SecureFX 7.3, and VanDyke ClientPack 7.3. All platforms of SecureCRT and SecureFX support the dockable session manager, which now has a filter bar for quickly locating sessions in the session database. An import/export tool makes it easier to backup or copy settings from one machine to another and security is improved with the ability to generate and store larger keys in the SSH Agent.
SecureCRT 7.3 beta 1 increases productivity with enhanced keyword highlighting. System administrators can now specify keyword colors and combine keyword attributes to make critical output stand out, easily identify errors in log files or streaming output, or highlight prompts. In addition, on the Windows platform regular expressions can be used as keywords. Here’s what one customer had to say about the new functionality:
“Colorizing based on regular expressions opens up a world of possibilities, but just having the ability to make simple keywords such as ‘no/down/initializing/error/fail’ show red, and ‘up/ready/success’ show green has made me so much more productive. I am no longer hunting through a wall of text hoping that I don’t miss important information. Now I can define what is important and the colors make it pop out on the screen automatically.” — Casey Blackburn, Dixon Hughes Goodman, LLP
Also new in SecureCRT 7.3 are named pipes (Windows only) and scripting support for Kermit file transfers.
SecureFX 7.3 beta 1 adds PGP compatibility, making it possible to automatically execute the encryption and decryption process, a new SFXCL resume option for resuming interrupted transfers, and the ability to display filenames using UTF-8.
ClientPack 7.3 beta 1 improves security with the ability to generate larger keys and adds the vsftp option “no-flock”, which turns off locking on local files for uploads and downloads, preventing a potential hang if the source file is located on mounted storage, such as EMC NFS.
