VShell 4.3 Beta 1 Now Available with New Authentication and Encryption Options

The beta 1 release of VShell 4.3 is now available for download.

VShell 4.3 for Windows now supports authentication using credentials provided by an external LDAP server and adds a manage-public-key interface allowing the VShell administrator to easily configure (add, remove, and view) user public keys.  On all platforms, support for chacha20-poly1305@openssh.com authenticated encryption cipher provides additional encryption options.  On UNIX platforms, VShell enhances fine-grained control of virtual directories by allowing specific file and folder access permissions to be specified on a per user, per virtual directory basis.  Also new on UNIX platforms is the ability to specify which virtual directory a user is placed in upon connecting.

Here’s what’s new in VShell 4.3 (beta):

  • LDAP server user authentication. Login to VShell using credentials provided by an external LDAP server (Windows only).
  • Manage user public keys. Easily add, remove, and view user and common public keys via the new manage-public-key interface (Windows only).
  • Additional encryption options. Support for ChaCha20-Poly1305 authenticated encryption cipher (Windows and UNIX).
  • UNIX virtual directory access permissions. Fine-grained control over virtual directory access permissions on UNIX.  Specific file and folder access permissions can be set on a per user, per virtual directory basis (UNIX only).
  • UNIX virtual directory home. Specify which virtual directory a user will be placed in upon connecting (UNIX only).
